What GPS system is good in map direction?
cabbie asked:
I’m trying to get a portable GPS system for my car. I got this new job as a carrier. Which GPS brand is better and cheaper?

Tom Tom is most popular, but you won’t go wrong with most top brand name GPS.
I have a Jensen NVX-2…something, and it works fine for a lot less $$ of the bigger names.
What you will want to consider is to have Text to speech or not.
Text to speech will read out the actual street names like, turn left on Park St. (instead of giving a genric..Turn left in 30 ft….)

Hi, Tom Tom is the most popular but is also the most expensive
Some people find it the most intuitive, since it has quite simple instructions and big buttons. Then again it does contain some advanced features such as avoiding a certain road if there is roadworks for example.
There ARE other options out there such as Mio Digiwalker, Medion GoPal are cheaper at around $200. These GPS For Cars tend to be quite reasonable and have the basic ability to plot a route to where you want to go. So it really depends on your budget and what features you need.
Incidentally, there is a review of GPS For Cars here:
